Many purchase choices would probably be different had they known beforehand that bit perfect streaming from Tidal, et al. Seems like it would be a basic minimal requirement for a high end piece of equipment like the ADI 2 DAC however, RME says a fix won't happen and the question will continue to be asked "again" by new owners of the DAC. It's disappointing that RME won't provide a fix to their driver that would allow bit perfect output from the music streamer desktop apps, like Tidal, using WASAPI. You could also try Roon which is a bit better if you want to be able to sort tracks and create playlists (called Bookmarks with Roon) based on the tracks Metadata. If you have Audirvana, just continue to use it. You could also use a USB to SPDIF converter but that is another expense and another device in the chain. For optical, use an HDMI extractor that extracts the audio out to an optical feed that I have going in to the RME. Audirvna allows you to get access to unlimited online audio content directly within the app and with the same audio playback quality as for your local library. Other option is to use Toslink, optical connection, instead of USB, Tidal switches frequency just fine with that. Here is the tread where I asked the same question as you. In order to get bit perfect output with the RME DAC and Tidal, you have to use a third party app such as Roon or Audirvana. If you remove the Madiface driver as per the RME instructions so that WASAPI can be used, Windows will resample the signal depending on the sample rate selected in Shared Mode in the Windows Sound settings. If you have the Madiface driver installed, the signal will be resampled depending on the sample rate selected in the drivers settings. Ever since iTunes, weve come to expect a certain layout and access features. For the main display window, hover your mouse over the above to launch the enlarger. The one-time 89 charge was reasonable enough. The Tidal desktop app is not bit perfect with the RME DAC (but is with other manufacturers). When Damien Plissons Audirvana Origin announcement dropped a few days ago, I decided it was time to install it on my work desk. I did see that that settings option that listed other bitrates, but when I changed it to anything other than 44.1, my dac would stop being the audio source in windows, and my other sound output would turn back on. Audirvna Remote App allows you to control the Audirvna software running on your computer from your mobile device and enjoy your music more freely at home. Windows 10 will play the sample rate, which is selected there. How to do is described in the handbook, Chapter 24.1 Settings Dialog, please look at the screen shot there: MADIface Series settings. One counter question: have you set the sample rate in the MADI driver? Will windows 10 ever play anything besides 44.1 without special programs like Audirvana?
