![]() You don’t get that time anywhere, do you? You just make it because it’s really important. Look, where do you get the time to eat three meals a day? How do you have time to do all that sleeping? How do you manage to spend all those hours with your kids or wife or a girlfriend or boyfriend? ![]() ![]() So where do I get the time? (Well for starters I don’t waste any of it asking dumb questions). In fact, I read deliberately slow, so that I can take notes (and then whenever I finish a book, I go back through and transcribe these notes for my version of a commonplace book. Even though I read hundreds of books every single year, I actually read quite slow. That’s when I tell them I don’t have a secret. So they ask me to teach them how to speed read. They see all the books I recommend every month in my reading newsletter and assume I must have some secret. They want to know my trick for reading so fast. In fact, that’s probably the most common email I get. However, there’s a coach option, a button off to the side you can select during drills and exercises to give you additional suggestions. When you read a lot of books people inevitably assume you speed read. The Reader’s Edge isn’t as intuitive as other speed reading software we reviewed, like eyeQ. If the in-program help doesn’t solve your problem or answer your question, you can contact the company using the phone number or email address found under the same tab. The software also lets you adjust the font and text size, although it doesn’t have many options. You can choose from a few types of images for this activity, including numbers and clip art. The Reader’s Edge also has a motility training exercise, which flicks a symbol around the screen to increase your reaction time and speed. Instead, you use the sidebar to navigate to warmup exercises and activities that increase your eye span so you absorb words faster. The software’s activities aren’t found inside the lessons. After you complete a section of reading, you check it off. The lesson plan overview has modules you can read and scroll through. From the menu, you can access comprehension tests and keep track of your progress with a series of reports. The program suggests you take an initial assessment before you start using its tools.
